A Tour in Universal Studios Hollywood, California

I did not expected that I can visit this entertainment place when I was in the United States of America four years ago. It was a wonderful experience for me seeing the venue of the prominent filmmakers. Out tour to the Universal Studios in Hollywood, California last June 7, 2008 was truly worth it. I truly enjoyed the tour we had in this place.

The setting of the movie Shark at the Universal Studios in Hollywood, California. I was there!

Universal was founded by Carl Laemmle, a German-Jewish immigrant from Laupheim who settled in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where he managed a clothing store. On a buying trip in 1905 to Chicago, he was struck by the popularity of nickelodeons. One story has Laemmle watching a box office for hours, counting patrons and calculating the day's take. Within weeks of his Chicago trip, Laemmle gave up dry goods to buy the first of several nickelodeons. more here

Just A Travel Story

It is not easy travelling with little children especially if you are alone. It can be stressful and full of worries sometimes. I remember someone who keep on telling us before that she cannot take a vacation back home because her reason was that her daughter was still a baby. I also have another friend who went home for a vacation twice already despite having a baby boy of some months old. Thanks to the help of stroller travel systems, her travel was always easy and convenient.

Back to the story of the first mother I mentioned above. I heard from some acquaintances that she was telling the same story some years ago. Now that her daughter is already almost 8 years old, I believed she can already have a nice travel with that age. Someone mentioned to me that she cannot go home because of some financial consideration, not the reason about her daughter's age.

The lesson is, sometimes we just need to be straight and be honest. And if possible avoid pretending that we have when we don't have it, just to impress and make other people believe that we have. In short, just avoid pretending. Peace!

Another Wonderful Trip

Hello folks! I am slowly back again in the blogosphere. I still have a bit jetlag but I feel very better now compared to yesterday. I was just so tired after having not enough sleep yesterday night because we need to wake up early the following morning for our flight back to Germany.

It was another wonderful trip I had. Turkey is a country that has a lot to offer to its guests and visitors. Its ancient cultural heritage has made it a tourist destination for around two decades now. Visitors and travelers from around the world are coming to this country experience its beauty and culture.

As we arrived yesterday, we noticed that water keeps on dropping from our faucet. I tried to find the receipt of the faucet because I believed that it is still under the warranty period. After some minutes of searching, I finally found it. Hubby went to the hardware where we bought it. he was given a replacement. He also asked about prices of industrial rubber hose and some clear roofs. When I went home from grocery shopping this afternoon, hubby had already installed the new faucet.

I will be sharing more travel experience from Turkey in my other travel websites. See you soon peeps!

Sleeping Beauty Castle of Disneyland

The Sleeping Beauty Castle is an iconic symbol of Disneyland. It is based on Neuschwanstein Castle of King Ludwig II, king of Bavaria, Germany. I am happy to see the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland, Anaheim in California. I am happier as I saw for the third time the famous Neuschwanstein Castle in Bavaria. Both are amazing architectures but of course King Ludwig's castle is the best!

Hoover Dam Bypass Connecting Colorado and Nevada States

Th Hoover Dam Bypass, also called as The Mike O'Callaghan – Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge is a concrete steel arch bridge connecting the states of Colorado and Nevada. It runs accross Colorado River and was opened last October 19, 2010.

During our visit in Hoover Dam last May 2008, this bridge was still under construction. This is again another architecture in the United States considering that it is the first concrete-steel composite arch bridge built in this country.

an image taken by my sister during their recent visit. The bridge is already in used now.

The bridge provides a crossing of the Colorado River for U.S. Route 93, linking the U.S. states of Nevada and Arizona 1,600 feet (490 m) downstream from the Hoover Dam. It is located approximately 30 miles (48 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The bridge is the 2nd highest in the United States, behind Royal Gorge Bridge, at 840 feet (260 m) above the Colorado River. Built as part of the Hoover Dam Bypass Project, which successfully finished within budget at a cost of $240 million, the bridge portion cost $114 million (2010 USD) more here

The tamed Colorado River where the Hoover Dam Bypass crosses. It was still under construction during our visit last May 2008.

Its construction begun in 2003 and construction contract for the arch bridge was awarded in October 2004.
It is truly amazing how such high-tech engineering are happening nowadays. I believed the traffic in Hoover Dam is now very better with this new bridge.

The Hoover Dam in the border between Colorado and Nevada

Let's take a little tour in the Unites States. I am sharing some images of one of the major tourist attractions in Nevada. Hoover Dam, previously known as Boulder Dam is located in the Black Canyon of Colorado River on the border between Nevada and Colorado States. It was built from 1931 to 1935 as seen on the last image I have below.

It is considered to be a wonder of human engineering. During our visit last May 2008, there is a new bridge that is being built to make new way for the traffic. It is said that this so-called Hoover Bypass is opened sometime last October of this year.

The Colorado River

Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, and is located near Boulder City, Nevada, a municipality originally constructed for workers on the construction project, about 25 mi (40 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California.
these are some images I took during our visit last May 2008.

Sis From Vegas Plans for a Vacation

It's been awhile since I did not chat with my sister from Las Vegas. If I am not mistaken, I guess for over a month. We had a chat last Tuesday but only for some minutes because I was having a headache at that moment. She mentioned that she plans to have a vacation next year. I would like to suggest er to take a look at Branson vacation packages. She's never been to Branson there and for sure it would be nice for her to see and experience the place for the first time. I hope to chat with her again next week. Before I forgot it, I would like to greet all American friends for a happy celebration of Labor Day. I believed friends in the U.S. base nearby will have a four-day weekend off especially the soldiers. Hubby will also have an off on Monday. We will see what we can do. Have a great weekend ahead!

Personal Short Update

Good evening peeps! You might be wondering why I was not able to update this site for more than a week now. I was away for a tour with a friend from the U.S. in some European cities. We are finally backed now but the traveling is still not over. We still have some days left for a little sightseeing in Germany. I just remember the nice hotel where we stayed in Rome, Italy and the modern furniture they are using inside the building. It is also very clean compared to the one we stayed-in in Paris, France. I guess, I don't have much time to share now about the adventure we had in some European cities. I would like to share next time some travel experiences and images we had in my other sites. Goodnight folks!

Found a Cheap Vacation Package to New York

I am here again for a little update. I went grocery shopping this afternoon. One of the shops where I always buy grocery items is also offering vacation and travel packages. They have a travel catalogue every month for vacation deals. That's were I found a cheap holiday package to New York. I have to ask hubby if he wants a new fitness equipment or a short vacation somewhere. I wish I can go to this trip to see this side of America. For now, I am saving religiously for a Europe adventure this summer season. Some weeks more to go! My friend from the United States is quite excited now. It's time to bid goodnight.

Treasure Island Hotel and Casino , Las Vegas

One of the best hotel in Las Vegas is Treasure Island Hotel and Casino. I always keep passing this hotel especially when we go walking in Las Vegas strip. One of the famous show outside the hotel is the Pirate Show. It is just nice to remember that I was once in Las Vegas and really enjoyed my two months stay here!! great vacation!! hope to be back there in 2010 with my husband...sharing some photos of the Hotel...

keep reading as I will try my best to update this blog from time to time!! hope you have a great time here!! thanks for visiting!!

Photo I took while inside the tram passing in front of TI

this is where the famous Pirate Show in TI always takes place

while inside the tram from The Mirage to Treasure Island.

Some infos from Wikipedia about TI...thanks a lot Wiki...you're really great!!

Treasure Island (also known as "ti") is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA with 2,665 rooms and 220 suites, and is connected by tram to The Mirage as well as pedestrian bridge to the Fashion Show Mall shopping center.

TI has received the AAA Four Diamond rating each year since 1998, and is owned by MGM MIRAGE.

HISTORY

Treasure Island was opened by Mirage Resorts in 1993 under the direction of Steve Wynn at a cost of $450 million. The initial plans called for a tower addition to The Mirage, but later evolved into a full-fledged separate hotel casino resort. Treasure Island originally intended to attract families with whimsical pirate features and icons such as the skull-and-crossbones strip marquee, a large video arcade, and staged pirate battles nightly in "Buccaneer Bay" in front of the casino entrance on the Strip.

In 2003, the hotel largely abandoned its pirate theme for a more contemporary resort in efforts to focus more on adults. The original arcade and kid-friendly pool areas were replaced with an adult-friendly hot tub, contemporary nightclub and party bar. The famous skull-and-crossbones sign at the Strip entrance was replaced by one reading simply "ti" that is also a large LCD video screen.

Wynn, Las Vegas

I would like to greet each and everyone a very very happy weekend especially those who are enjoying their weekend in Las Vegas! I could still remember the first day I stepped in Las Vegas International airport. As my sister and her husband picked me up at the airport, they drove me first around Las Vegas strip. It was Saturday evening of May 3, 2008. I was amazed by a lot of people who were partying on the side of the streets. That was really amazing!

I am sharing for tonight a photo of one of Las Vegas famous hotel which is Wynn. It's full name is Wynn Las Vegas Resort and Country Club. Stay cool and relax out there especially for those who have not been yet to Vegas. I will show you more photos and more infos about this hotel which is one of my favorite in Vegas. As of now, I need to sign-off and take a look at Lipovox. Enjoy your weekend!
