The Chinatown in Chicago

It is located on the South Side (located in the Armour Square community area), centered on Cermak and Wentworth Avenues. It is history that brought Chinese in this part of the United States of America.

Looking to escape the anti-Chinese violence that had broken out on the west coast, the first Chinese arrived in Chicago after 1869 when the First Transcontinental Railroad was completed. By the late 1800s, 25% of Chicago's approximately 600 Chinese residents settled along Clark Street between Van Buren and Harrison Avenues in Chicago's Loop.[3] In 1889, 16 Chinese-owned businesses were located along the two-block stretch, including eight grocery stores, two butcher shops and a restaurant. Faced with increasing rent prices, the Chinese living in this area began moving south to Armour Square in 1912. more here

El Paso, Texas

Have a blessed Ne Year to all! I just hope everyone had a good one. I mean a good start of the year 2012! Anyway, anyone heading to El Paso, Texas? I wish you have a lot of great times there. This is one of the places that I wish to visit in the United States of America. I was looking lats night in the world in my computer room where does El Paso or Texas as a whole is located. I found out that it is quite far from Las Vegas, Nevada. I still believed that I have the chance to visit Texas one of these days. If not this year maybe in the next years to come.

I tried to use google map to find out how long would it takes when driving from Las Vegas to El Paso? Depending on your route, it is around 730 miles when taking US-93 and I-10-E and that is over 12 hours driving. At least I have an idea now about this place.

this was taken by my friend Ritz who also love to travel anywhere. Thanks Ritz for this snapshot.

El Paso stands on the Rio Grande (Río Bravo del Norte), across the border from Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Mexico. The image to the right shows Downtown El Paso and Juárez, with the Juárez Mountains in the background.

Going to Reno, Nevada

This highway 95 going to Reno. This city is known as the "Biggest Little City in the World". It is the second largest tourist destination in Nevada after Las Vegas. It is located in the beautiful north-west region of the State of Nevada, right at the base of the Sierra Nevada mountain range.

we are not really on our way to Reno...maybe in my next visit to the U.S.

Driving from From Las Vegas

Don't be fooled by the fact that Las Vegas and Reno are in the same state - there's about 9 hours of driving time separating them. Take US 95 north to Fallon, US 50 west to Fernley, and Interstate 80 west to Reno. If you're not a fan of desert landscapes, boredom is a serious risk on this trip. Winter weather will generally not be a large problem on this trip, but don't count on being able to find food or fuel outside the major towns (Beatty, Tonopah, Hawthorne, Fallon and Fernley)

During the summer the heat along US 95 can be hard on you and on your vehicle. A much more comfortable alternative to cooking in your car is to drive during the night. Many of the dark stretches between the small towns along US 95 reveal numerous shooting stars and other astral phenomena that you might miss during the baking sun. Keep in mind that driving at night can be dangerous due to the visibility limitations from the hills and the mountains. Be sure to have a lot of rest before undertaking this trip.

The Capitol of Iowa in Des Moines

Happy New Year! I am quite late with my greetings here but as the saying goes, better late than never. To begin with my first post here, let me share an image from the state of Iowa in the United States. This state is called as the "American Heartland" and is located in the Midwestern United States.Iowa has diversified economy, culture, and landscape which makes this place very interesting to visit.

Below is an image of the Iowa State Capitol. It is the state capitol building of the U.S. state of Iowa. This building was constructed between 1871 and 1886 and is located in the state capital of Des Moines at East 9th Street and Grand Avenue. It houses the Iowa General Assembly.

thanks to a friend, Nonna for this image, She lives in this city of Iowa where the state capitol is located.

For thirty-five years before construction of the current building started, a three story brick building housed the Iowa legislature. Today's capitol is on the same grounds, and is the only five-domed state capitol in the country. The building is brick with limestone from Iowa, Missouri, Minnesota, Ohio, and Illinois. Iowa stone is the foundation for the many porticoes of the building. Both front and back porticoes have pediments supported by six Corinthian columns each. The dome of the capitol is gilded in tissue-paper thin sheets of pure 23-karat gold, with a protective layer sealing the gold from the elements, and the top of its finial peak is 275 feet (84 m) above the ground. From its opening in 1884 until 1924 it was the tallest building in Des Moines, and probably the tallest in Iowa. more here

The Windy City Chicago, Illinois

The most American of Big Cities, the windy city, Ciyt of Big Shoulders are only some of the nicknames of Chicago. It is the largest city in the state of Illinois in the United States of America. It is also the third most populous city in the USA. It is also considered as one of the world's top ten Global Financial Centers. The city's notoriety expressed in popular culture is found in novels, plays, movies, songs, various types of journals (e.g., sports, entertainment, business, trade, and academic), and the news media.

Thanks to my friend Nonna for this beautiful image from Chicago.

The Stratosphere Tower Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

The Stratosphere is the tallest structure in Las Vegas and also the fifth tallest structure in the United States. Commonly called as Stratosphere Las Vegas, is a tower, hotel and casino located in Las Vegas Strip, Paradise, Nevada.

You can find a revolving restaurant on the top of the tower called "Top of the World". It has also the highest thrill ride in the world, the Big Shot as it is called.

I guess, its is quite scary working on top of this tower. What do you think guys?

New York Sights I would Love To Visit

I always love to talk about my travel escapades in my blogs. It is because I would like to also share the beautiful and interesting places I had been too! Thanks to the blogosphere where we can share our travel experiences and images or anything that we would like to impart to our readers and viewers. That is also the reason why I am sharing this post to you.

I had been to the United States of America for two months last 2008. Being the third largest country by land area and population, I believed you cannot just tour it in just two months, also considering your finances. But I am happy to see a lot of Las Vegas and some places in California.

There are still a lot of cities and states that I would love to visit in the U.S. One of it is New York City. For sure, I need to search first a cheap plane ticket and an affordable hostel in New York whenever I will spend a vacation there in the future. With the many travel experiences I had, I am very optimistic that I can find one that fits my holiday budget.

A replica of the Statue of Liberty in New York-New York Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. I took this image during my vacation in this city last 2008.

Here are some of the New York Sights that I would love to see:

1. The Statue of Liberty

I just found some images of the Statue of Liberty in one of my friends in facebook. I envy her visiting this city. This statue has become an iconic symbol of freedom not only in New York but in the whole of United States as well. It is said to be a gift of French people to the U.S.. It has a colossal neoclassical architecture designed by Frederic Bartholdi in 1886. It is also included in the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

There are a lot of replicas of Statue of Liberty that are found around the world. The one I saw are in Paris, France and Las Vegas, Nevada.

2. The Empire State Building

The American Society of Civil Engineers named this building as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World. It is one of the famous landmark of New York City with a 102-story skycraper and a height of 381 meters or 1,250 feet. The Empire State Building is said to be the third tallest skyscraper in the United States after the Willis Tower and Trump International Hotel and Tower, both are located in Chicago.

3. The New York Times Square

It is formerly called Longacre Square. It is a major commercial district in Manhattan, New York City. Having the nicknames, "The Crossroads of the World" and "The Great White Way," it has become an iconic world landmark and considered to be the major tourist attraction of New York City and the United States.

I am quite sure that I will visit this city in the future. In God's will! How about you? Don't forget to browse for cheap New York hotels to spend your future wonderful vacation in this amazing city. I might see you there!

Tour at the Universal Studios Hollywood, California

It was more than two years now since I visited Universal Studios Hollywood in Los Angeles, California, USA. It was one of the great times in my life and I am very thankful that I had the chance to visit and see this place.

Thanks to my sister, cousin and family for that wonderful moments being with them. Here are some of the images I took as we toured Universal Studios Hollywood last June 7, 2008.

Universal Studios Hollywood is a movie studio and theme park in the unincorporated Universal City community of Los Angeles County, California, United States. It is one of the oldest and most famous Hollywood movie studios still in use. Its official marketing headline is "The Entertainment Capital of LA", though during the summer it is often advertised as "The Coolest Place in LA." It was initially created to offer tours of the real Universal Studios soundstages and sets. It is the first of many fully-fledged Universal Studios Theme Parks located across the world. Woody Woodpecker is the mascot for Universal Studios Hollywood. more here

Looking for Cheap Flights To The U.S.A

I just received a message in my Facebook account from my cousin in Las Vegas the other week. She was asking me when am I going to visit them again in Las Vegas. I also received another message from a friend in New York inviting me to visit them anytime I want. If I can find the cheapest flights online anytime this year, I might be flying to U.S.A. I just mentioned in my other site that a friend of mine from the U.S. will be visiting me this summer in Europe. I might end up flying with her back if I can find cheap flights to Chicago. She live near this city and this is where she will be boarding a plane in going to Europe.

Sometimes you can find good travel sites online where you can book a cheap flight anywhere around the world. One of the best site I visited is Travel Grove. They also have international sites in Germany, Italy, Spain, France, United Kingdom and the United States. I believed travelers who are in this country will find it very convenient for them to browse a site that is in their own language. I find it a very good idea.

Lastly, if I will be visiting New York, for sure I need a New York travel guide to know what are the main sights worth visiting in this city. I know one of my friends is living there right now but I am not quite sure if she know everything about New York beside that it is really a big city. I want to browse and go back again next week to travelgrove.com site. I just found their site very informative to a budget traveler like me. I just can't browse it this weekend because we will be out for a weekend trip again.

I am also sharing here a picture from Las Vegas. I took this photo in Caesars Palace Hotel during my vacation last 2008. Don't forget to visit Travel Grove if you are looking for cheap flights and hotel anywhere in the U.S.

Stop Over in Atlanta Georgia

I just watch a news online telling that a Qatari diplomat named Mohammed Al-Madadi will fly back home tonight after scaring passengers of a US airline by slipping into the bathroom for a smoke and joked about trying to set his shoe on fire. I wish to find that news and maybe share it here. I will see.

Here is the picture taken during my my stop-over in Atlanta, Georgia last July 2008. I boarded Delta airways in going back to Europe. It seems raining outside! Happy weekend folks!

Leaving on a Jet Plane

Good evening everyone! How beautiful is the sky here as the jet plane I boarded during my return trip to Europe was taking off the ground. I spent a long two months vacation in the United States last 2008. My cousin from Las Vegas has been asking me when am I going back to the U.S.? That is also the question that I can't answer right now. When finances are available how I wish this coming weekend immediately. I guess I am getting sleepy right now. Before I finally sign-off, let me browse first about cheap disability insurance online. I also have to find out if the bus trip to Berlin at the end of the month is still not fully book. Here is the sky taken at Atlanta, Georgia during my connecting flight from Las Vegas to Germany. Goodnight folks!

Welcome to Universal Studios Hollywood

This is one of the best things that happened to me as I visited United States. I had the chance to visit the entertainment capital of Los Angeles, California, the Universal Studios Hollywood. After we visited Disneyland in California for two days, we proceeded to Universal Studios to have a little sightseeing. It was just a day sightseeing trip. Here are of the images I have during our visit.

Grizzly River Run in Disneyland, California

It's almost two years now since I visited Disneyland, California. I love the Grizzly River Ride in this area. Here are the pictures I took during our visit last June 2008.
Grizzly River Run is a river rafting ride at Disney's California Adventure Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California. It is similar to Kali River Rapids in Disney's Animal Kingdom and the Shipwreck Rapids ride in SeaWorld. The attraction's name comes from Grizzly Peak, the bear shaped mountain that the rapids flow around. It was built by Intamin AG.

The raft trip around Grizzly Peak begins with the rafts being lifted up a wooden conveyor that runs under leaking pipes that spray water on the riders. Upon reaching the top of the conveyor, the rafts are dropped into the water to descend the peak, passing through a cave and bumping against a log jam. The climax of the ride drops the rafts down into a geyser field. The final drop has a unique element in that the rafts are spun as they begin their descent.

This sub-land is themed after California's wilderness, such as Yosemite and Redwood national parks. Attractions include Grizzly River Run, a fast-paced river rapids ride around Grizzly Peak, the park's icon. Nearby is the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail; an interactive playground area, which also includes a show featuring characters from Disney's Brother Bear, The Magic of Brother Bear. A special entrance to Disney's Grand Californian Hotel is also located in this area. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grizzly_River_Run
