Advice to my Sisters
I guess this is always my roll in life as a big sister to my younger siblings. They always ask for advices from me from time to time and I always try my best to give good advices to them. Last time, I was telling my sister to get an accident and private life or term insurance. I also told her to browse for quick life insurance online so that she will have an idea what is the best one for her. Sometimes insurances can be a good investment especially the term insurance because after a period of time, you can withdraw the money that you contributed. I also told another sister to continue paying her social security contribution. It is also a good form of investment for the future. I am happy that my sisters are always listening to my advices.

Health Insurance in United States
I am quite curious with this topic about health insurance in the United States. Unlike Germany where it is called a social country, most and maybe all of the people here are having health insurance. If you are Arbeitslos, called in English as unemployed, you have to go to the Arbeitsamt or Employment office to apply and obtain for health insurance and other benefits like such as allowance to pay for an apartment and cost of living.
I also read that there are millions of people in the United States who don't owned health insurance. For those who can afford it, you might also want to buy life insurance online. This is quite a good investment.
The probable causes of being uninsured in the United States maybe due to; being unemployed and cannot pay for their health insurance and may be because their employer is not offering a health insurance.
According to wikipedia, "the US health care system relies heavily on private and not-for-profit health insurance, which is the primary source of coverage for most Americans. According to the United States Census Bureau, approximately 85% of Americans have health insurance; nearly 60% obtain it through an employer, while about 9% purchase it directly. Various government agencies provide coverage to about 28% of Americans (there is some overlap in these figures)."

Travel Insurance to the U.S.A.
It is almost two years now since I had my two months vacation in the United States of America. I thought I can go back there this year but it is just not possible due to some circumstances. Second, I decided to make some Europe trips again this coming summer with a Filipino American friend. Before I travel to U.S.A. last 2008, I made it sure that I had a travel insurance with me. In fact, I found the receipt of the said insurance while cleaning our bedroom yesterday. I was redirected to a sort of life insurance quote as I surfed for my travel insurance that time. I guess it is not a bad idea because I even learn more about insurances. Remember to get a travel insurances when you are a foreign nationals visiting U.S.A. Always getting ready for any emergency is always an advantage. Here is one of the pictures I had while meeting a dear friend in Las Vegas, Nevada. This was taken inside Caesars Palace Hotel.

Sister's Car Accident in Vegas
This happened last July 2007, the first months in Las Vegas when my sister started to practice how to drive. As far as I know and correct me if I am mistaken, in the US, a person who has a professional drivers license can teach somebody how to drive. Unlike here in Germany, you must enroll in a driving school to practice driving. During my sister's first day of driving, she had a car accident. I worried about it and contacted her immediately. Instead of stepping the break, she stepped on the accelerator which caused her to hit their garage. That goodness it was only slight damage to her. Sad to say, the front side of the car wass totally wrecked and part of the the garage also. The worst thing is, she was hit by the airbag on her neck which resulted to burning. I immediately sent her creams for burns and scars to the US. She was thankful that there was no scar left on her neck now.
What is the bottom line here? Be sure that your car insurance is always up to date. You can read for auto insurance reviews to find information whether you are having the right insurance at the right price. I just remember to check the car insurance payments that were auto-debited last month on our bank account. As I checked our bank account history last Wednesday, I found out that the car insurance company debited a wrong amount. I told immediately my husband to call the said company to correct it. I am a banker and accountant by profession. I know how to check balance sheets, income statements, bank reconciliations and other accounting related stuffs. I guess it is basic.
I am happy that dear sister is now driving her own car in Las Vegas..Drive safely dear sistah! I miss you too!
