The Great Sphinx of Giza in Luxor Las Vegas

I haven't seen the original Sphinx in   Giza, Egypt but at  least I saw  its replica in Luxor Las Vegas, Nevada. This historical monument patterned from Egypt is very interesting. I thought I can only watch it in Television but I had  truly  seen it in person. Although it is only a replica but I am still happy to see it  from  my naked eyes. I know one day, I can visit the real one in Egypt. It is  included in my travel wishlist.

Luxor Las Vegas is located in on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is a hotel and a casino. Its architecture was based in ancient Thebes, now the city of Luxor.

The Obelisk Inside Luxor Las Vegas

Fabulous Las Vegas! There are a lot of things to experience in this famous city of Nevada in the United States. One of the things you can do is hotel-hopping. With the different themes and architecture of the hotels in Las Vegas, you will surely feel that you also visit other countries.

Taking for example a visit to Luxor Las Vegas. This pyramid-shaped hotel is named after the city of Luxor in Egypt. It is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada. It is considered to be the third largest hotel in the world and the second largest in Las Vegas after MGM Grand Las Vegas.

The photo you see below is the lobby interior of Luxor. You can see an obelisk inside located at the middle part of the hotel's lobby.

I had a great time during my two months holiday in Las Vegas almost four years ago. Time passed-by so fast nowadays. I feel like I was only there last year.

The first tower hotel that I have seen is Stratosphere Las Vegas. It is considered to be the tallest tower in Las Vegas and the 5th-tallest structure, in the United States. It is said to have a height of 1,149 ft (350 m). Sad to say, I was not able to go-up on top of it. Maybe in my next visit.

We just happened to pass-by Stratosphere and this is one of the snapshots I took. I hope to make a better picture in my next visit.

Experience in Luxor, Las Vegas

I never forgot this experience I had in Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. When you see the second image below, you will have an idea about it. I just want to descent to the 1000 foot, level 10 in Luxor. It seems that you are inside an elevator and it bring you down. While descending, the machine keeps on sharing. Ther were only three of me. As we where already down under, it was so dark...somebody announce to the speaker that if someone cannot bear it, just raise you hand. It seems that there was earthquake that time with different lights flashings and I can't really handle it. I feel so dizzy and feel like throwing..I immediately raised my hands, signaling to stop it. I ran immediately to the cr and after that, you know what i mean...i felt better....I will never do that again. It was quite adventurous and exciting but I can't handle it.

the small Sphinx inside the lobby of Luxor..I was there!

Designed by hotel architect Veldon Simpson and interior designer Charles Silverman, the Luxor has received recognition as being among the most recognizable hotels on the strip because of its unique design. The main portion of the hotel is a 365-foot (111 m)-high, 30-story pyramid encased in 11 acres of dark bronze glass. The guest rooms are situated on the outer walls of the pyramid and are reached by riding in "inclinators" that travel along the inner surface of the pyramid at a 39-degree angle. The hotel also features a 29 million cubic feet (820,000 m³) atrium, which was the largest open atrium in the world when it was built in 1993. The hotel is marked by a 140-foot (43 m)-high obelisk and a 110-foot (34 m)-tall re-creation of the Great Sphinx of Giza. wikipedia.

The Trojan Horse Inside Caesars Palace Las Vegas

So, what's this Trojan Horse exactly doing inside Caesars palace? I thought Ceasars Palace is featuring Rome not Turkey or what? Anyway, it's really none of my business. What is important for me, I was in Vegas and had the chance to see and to experience this so-called "entertainment capital of the world". I love Vegas!

The Waterfall Inside The Venetian Las Vegas

The Venetian Resort Hotel Casino, simply known as the Venetian Las Vegas is a luxury hotel in Las Vegas Strip, Paradise, Nevada, United States. This is the first hotel where I stepped on during my first night in Las Vegas. My sister and her hubby brought me here to take my first dinner in Vegas. The tiresome long hours of flight was gone when I see this place especially that waterfall inside the hotel.

This hotel features a life-like replica tower of St Mark's Campanile in Venice, Italy.

The Montgolfier like Balloon in Paris, Las Vegas

If you are in Las Vegas Strip, I am quite sure you had already seen this sign in a shape of Montgolfier balloon in Paris. I found this iconic bulbous of Paris very sexy and simply interesting. Take a look at the image I took during my vacation in Las Vegas. Do you have an idea how this balloon is inflated everyday. Me, neither! No matter what, I simply love this neon sign.

Great job from the Montgolfier brothers, Joseph-Michel (26 August 1740 – 26 June 1810) and Jacques-Étienne (6 January 1745 – 2 August 1799) who invented the montgolfière-style hot air balloon. Now, you know where did Paris got this idea.

a sign in the shape of the Montgolfier balloon in Paris, Las Vegas. sorry guys, this is not really a good shot. Probably in my next visit, I can already give you a better picture because I already have a better camera.

Replica of Trevi Fountain in Caesars Palace, Las Vegas

If you had been in Rome, Italy, I believed you are very familiar with one of its sights, the Trevi fountain. If you happen to visit Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, you can also see a replica of this fountain outside of the hotel. There are a lot to see in Caesars Palace, a luxury hotel casino in Las Vegas Strip, Paradise, Nevada. A day in this hotel is not enough to see and explore everything. That was the reason why I always kept on coming back there during my two-months vacation in Vegas.

Luxor Las Vegas is a hotel and casino located in Las Vegas Strip, Paradise, Nevada. It is named after the city of Luxor in Egypt. It is said to be the second largest hotel in Las Vegas, next to MGM Grand and the third largest in the world.

Are you familiar with the Great Sphinx of Giza? It is commonly called as Sphinx, a mythical creature which resembles lion's body and a human head. In Egypt, it is located on the Giza Plateau on the west bank of the Nile in Giza.

You can also find a Sphinx statue in front of Luxor hotel in Las Vegas.
Below are some images I took during my visit last 2008 in Las Vegas

Designed by hotel architect Veldon Simpson and interior designer Charles Silverman, the Luxor has received recognition as being among the most recognizable hotels on the strip because of its unique design. The light of the Luxor

The tip of the pyramid contains a fixed-position spotlight that points directly upward and is claimed to be the brightest beam in the world at over 42.3 billion candle power. The light is created by 39 Xenon lamps which use computer designed curved mirrors to collect the light and focus it into one intense beam. According to the Luxor website, “engineers say that an astronaut could read a newspaper by Luxor’s Sky Beam from ten miles into space” and “on a clear night, the Sky Beam is visible up to 250 miles away to an airplane at cruising altitude. more here.

Flamingo Las Vegas

This is not really good shot of Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. I just want to show how this hotel look like. I was there!

The Flamingo Las Vegas is a hotel casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada and is owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corp.. The property offers a 77,000 sq ft (7,200 m2) casino along with 3,626 hotel rooms. The 15 acres (6.1 ha) site's architectural theme is reminiscent of the Art Deco and Streamline Moderne style of Miami and South Beach, with the central outdoor area housing an exhibit of flamingos as part of a wildlife habitat. It was the home of penguins, but they have since been moved to the Dallas Zoo. It was the third resort to open on the Strip, and the oldest resort on the Strip still in operation today. more about Flamingo here
