Alternative Hotels to Stay-In Across The Globe

There are many great hotels to stay but few have the much-coveted ‘wow’ factor. In the last 30 years, the emphasis on eco friendliness and preservation has inspired many a hotel owner to experiment with alternative hotel concepts. Of all the unusual hotels in the world, the following truly provide a once in a lifetime experience:

Chillingham Castle

As the name suggest, the castle really gives chills. It is located in Northumberland and is a Grade I listed historic building, which is now marketed as the most haunted location in Britain. This castle has also been featured in many popular documentaries. If you don't believe in ghosts, you may want to rent a room in this castle. Maybe, you will have other thoughts, after visiting this place.

360 Leti

Perched on the Himalayas are four perfectly placed cottages which boast a breathtaking view of this majestic mountain range. The village houses overlook the Ramganga River and snow capped mountains. From your sitting area, you’ll get a glimpse of the untouched Himalayan mountains and wilderness. Crafted by local tradesmen and staffed by locals, 360 Leti serves a variety of cuisine, including Indian, Tibetan, Continental and Asian. 360 Leti is a true Himalayan experience and has to be seen to be appreciated. This must-visit hotel has made 360 Leti very popular amongst travelers and adventurers alike, and has recently been voted in the top 101 hotels in the world, for the third year running.

Hotel Palafitte

Built on wooden silts in the middle of a lake in Switzerland, this hotel is an example of things to come. All water cabins have private terraces and some of them have direct access to the lake. A good restaurant provides various menus and delicious meals while room service caters to the need of most demanding guests.

Quinta Real Zacatecas

No one would expect an unusually characteristic lodging from a big chain but Quinta Real in Zacatecas has defied imagination by restoring a former bull fighting ring into an architectural jewel. The award winning building gives the feeling of a real Mexican fiesta in action. All suites face the cobblestone ring, which itself overlooks an old water aqueduct.

Jules Undersea Lodge

It is the only place on earth where you can spend a night underwater without any direct connection to the land. The lodge is located in Key Largo, Florida. To access it, one has to take a course in scuba diving. Once inside the small lodge, guests can enjoy every facility imaginable in a 2 star hotel. The freshly cooked seafood is provided by trained divers. There are two bedrooms, wet room and a common room. This undersea lodge contains a microwave, refrigerator, TV and stereo. There are three 42 inch windows.

Don't miss all these unique accommodations when you have the chance.

Wynn Las Vegas By Night

This is a super luxury hotel located on Las Vegas Strip, Paradise, Nevada. It is located across the strip from Fashion Show Mall. The hotel was opened on April 28, 2005. It is considered to be one of the finest hotels in the world.

This is not really a good image I have here because the camera I had last time was only a very ordinary one. I wish to take a shot again in my next visit. I was there last 2008.

Las Vegas Strip, Nevada

These are not really good snapshots but I would only like to share how Las Vegas Strip look like for you to have some ideas about it. Beside, I am not really a professional photographer..lol! I know Las Vegas is a dream of many to travel and I believed I am very lucky to visit it.

You can see in Las Vegas Strip many of the world's largest hotel, casino and resort properties in the world. It is said that out of the world's 25 largest hotels by room, nineteen are on the Strip. Truly amazing!

I can also say that once you visit Las Vegas, you wil have a feeling that you had also visited other cities in the world. Taking for example Caesars Palace Hotel which is patterned in Rome, Italy, you will also feel that you are in Rome once you are there. The Venetian Hotel which is patterned from Venice, Italy. They also have a manmade lake where you can ride a Gondola and feeling like in Venice. The cityscape of Las Vegas Strip is truly amusing and exciting.

I hope to visit this city again in the future. Here are some images taken during my two months vacation in Las Vegas last 2008.

The modernization of hotels, casinos, restaurants, and residential high-rises on the Strip has established the city as one of the most popular destinations for tourists

That yellow lighted round building is the Colosseum in Caesars Palace Hotel. Famous entertainers like Celine Dion, Elton John, Beth Midley are performing here.

The Las Vegas Strip is an approximately 4.2-mile (6.8 km) stretch of Las Vegas Boulevard South in Clark County, Nevada. The Strip lies in the unincorporated areas of Paradise and Winchester. Most of "the Strip" has been designated an All-American Road.

Beautiful Caesars Palace, Las Vegas

Everytime I see images of Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nevada, it always reminds me of my recent travel in Rome, Italy. This hotel's motives are patterned from Rome. This is one of my favorite hotels where I go strolling during my vacation in this city. One of the areas I always visit here was the Forum Shops. Since this is a luxury, I believed the hotel rooms here are luxuriously decorated and furnished with very nice furniture and accessories. Even the chair slipcovers here are very expensive too. I might not be able to sleep overnight in one of their luxury suites but I am happy that I was able to see and experience some things like dining and shopping in this beautiful place. Special thanks to my cousin who gave us some tickets to watch the Red Piano Concert of Elton John in Colosseum, the entertainment venue of this luxury hotel.

Here is another image I took during my visit last 2008.

It is always nice to remember places we visited. Thanks to the power of digital cameras where we can easily take pictures and share it in the web. This is the Venetian Resort Hotel, simply called as The Venetian, Las Vegas. It's theme is patterned in Venice, Italy. It is located in Las Vegas Strip in Paradise Nevada, USA. It has 4,049 suites, one of the largest five diamond hotels in the world. It was opened on May 3, 1999.

I believed , I am one of those lucky persons who had the chance to see and visit this place.

Beautiful Paris Hotel in Las Vegas

The "city of lights" which is Paris can also be experience in Las Vegas, Nevada. I was amazed seeing the beautiful luxury hotel called Paris Hotel in Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, USA. It is owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment. Its theme is the city of Paris in France. You can see the Arc de Triopmhe or Arch of Triumph near this hotel which is about two-third size of the original one in Paris. This hotel is adjacent to its sister property which is Bally's Las Vegas.

Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

Let's visit again another luxury hotel in Las Vegas. I found first Treasure Island Hotel in my files and decided to share it here. Some things you need to know about this hotel can be found below. I hope I can find some pictures in my files with the inside view of this hotel. Maybe in my next post. I believed it is a great experience if I can stay in this hotel for some nights in my next vacation in Las Vegas! Just kidding folks!
I took this picture while we were on the highway going to Las Vegas Strip last May 2008

Treasure Island (also known as "ti") is a hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, USA with 2,664 rooms and 220 suites, and is connected by tram to adjacent The Mirage as well as pedestrian bridge to the Fashion Show Mall shopping center. Since March 2009, the ti is owned and operated by real estate investor Phil Ruffin.

The hotel has received the AAA Four Diamond rating each year since 1998.
a nearer view of the hotel as we passed-by. picture taken by yours truly last May 2008. I was there!

HISTORY
Treasure Island was opened by Mirage Resorts in 1993 under the direction of Steve Wynn at a cost of $450 million. It was designed by architect Joel Bergman. The initial plans called for a tower addition to The Mirage, but later evolved into a full-fledged separate hotel casino resort. Treasure Island originally intended to attract families with whimsical pirate features and icons such as the skull-and-crossbones strip marquee, a large video arcade, and staged pirate battles nightly in "Buccaneer Bay" in front of the casino entrance on the Strip.

In 2003, the hotel largely abandoned its pirate theme for a more contemporary resort in efforts to focus more on adults. The original arcade and kid-friendly pool areas were replaced with an adult-friendly hot tub, contemporary nightclub and party bar. The famous skull-and-crossbones sign at the Strip entrance was replaced by one reading simply "ti" that is also a large LCD video screen.

On July 4, 2008, Christian Audigier The Nightclub replaced the Tangerine Nightclub.

On December 15, 2008, MGM Mirage announced the resort would be sold for US$775 million to Phil Ruffin, former owner of the New Frontier Hotel and Casino. Ruffin took full ownership of the hotel and casino resort on Friday, March 20, 2009. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treasure_Island_Hotel_and_Casino

On Top of Rio All Suite Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada

Let's go visit Las Vegas again. This time I am featuring our adventure on top of Rio All Suite Hotel in Las Vegas. My sister was so scared as we went on top of the hotel. It seems that the hotel is swaying once you are on top. You see how the U.S. flag sways over there in the image below. I also felt that it was swaying. It was a fun experience because you also see the surroundings of Las Vegas. Here are my pictures from 2008 Vegas vacation. Anyway, I did not visit Las Vegas because of communion invitations of some friends and relatives. I am already done with it for some decades now. I am simply there to have fun and for sightseeing. Have fun during the rest of your weekends!
The Rio All Suite Hotel and Casino is located off the Las Vegas Strip in the unincorporated area of Paradise, Nevada, USA. It is better known as The Rio and is owned and operated by Harrah's Entertainment. The Rio was the first all suite casino in the Las Vegas area. It was named after the city of Rio de Janeiro, and has Brazilian culture as a main theme.

The hotel towers are covered in the signature purple and red glass. The Rio hotel's 2,563 suites range in size from 600 to 13,000 sq ft (56 to 1,210 m2) and have floor to ceiling windows.

The complex includes a wine cellar that has more than 50,000 bottles. The Rio Pavilion convention center has a total of 160,000 sq ft (15,000 m2) of space. A Race and Sports Book is also available.

There is a free shuttle to the Harrah's-owned Harrah's Las Vegas, and Paris/Bally's.

To counter the 2008-2009 economic downturn, Harrah's focused on marketing its properties to specific segments of the population; as a result the Rio is being marketed heavily towards Hispanics. wikipedia

Meeting a Friend in Las Vegas

It's always nice to see good friends again! I guess the last time I saw Mercy back in the Philippines was in year 2000. After almost eight years of not seeing each other, we fianlly met again in Las Vegas. We had fun while talking our experiences back in College days. We also talked about those times when we played softball back in College. Those were great memories and I believed it will always be in my mine. Hotel Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada

Let's go this time to one of Las Vegas's luxury hotel, the Hotel Bellagio. I use to watch the Dancing Water Show in this hotel everytime I go to Las Vegas Strip. It is always an amazing show. I hope to share more photos next time. Here is a little information of this hotel.

Bellagio is a luxury hotel located on the Las Vegas Strip in the Paradise area of unincorporated Clark County, Nevada, USA and a member of The Leading Hotels of the World. It is owned by MGM Mirage and was built on the site of the demolished Dunes hotel and casino.

Inspired by the Lake Como resort of Bellagio in Italy, Bellagio is famed for its elegance. One of its most notable features is an 8-acre (32,000 m2) lake between the building and the Strip, which houses the Fountains of Bellagio, a large dancing water fountain synchronized to music.

Inside Bellagio, Dale Chihuly's Fiori di Como, composed of over 2,000 hand-blown glass flowers, covers 2,000 sq ft (190 m2) of the lobby ceiling. Bellagio is home to Cirque du Soleil's aquatic production "O". source: wikipedia

if I am not mistaken this is located in the Conservatory of Hotel Bellagio where we watched their beautiful garden Show.

Walking at Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas

I have been in Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas for I guess around five times. We also always passed this hotel everytime we go to Las Vegas strip. Don't you know that the only light that you can see in the space is the one that is coming from Luxor? amazing! My sister in Las Vegas told me about it. As you can see in the photo, I am truly enjoying my escapades in Las Vegas! I also browse the net to find info about Luxor's spotlight...keep reading!
that's me having fun in Luxor, Las Vegas

The Spotlight in Luxor

The tip of the pyramid contains a fixed-position spotlight that points directly upward – it is the brightest beam in the world, and is visible from anywhere in the Las Vegas valley at night, and can be seen at flight level from above Los Angeles, California, over 275 miles (440 km) away. At ground level, on clear nights, the beam could also be seen as far south as Laughlin and even as far north as Mesquite or Beatty. It is directly straight ahead on US-93 in Arizona, north of Kingman, before reaching the Hoover Dam. In the spring, the bright light attracts huge numbers of moths into the light beam, creating a phenomenon that has been likened to snow. Light is generated using 39 Xenon lamps of 7 kilowatts each. The hourly cost, including lamps, electricity, and repairs, is US$51 — roughly two weeks' worth of electricity for the average American household. The total light output is rated at 41.5 gigacandela, or 30.2 billion lumens. Hotel engineers, as well as the hotel's own website also claim that the light can be observed from space.

Atrium, The paradise garden in Mirage, Las Vegas

Hi to everyone! I was in Mirage for some times. For me the best part that really captured my attention in the hotel is their Atrium Garden, an indoor rainforest that you can see at the front entrance of the hotel. I really find it a paradise because of the beauty of the plants, trees and flowers inside. I can't imagine how beautiful it is!! I really love plants and flowers! The Atrium is house inside a 100 feet high dome. You can see palm trees, orchids, bird of paradise plants and thousands of bromeliads, one of my favorite flowers and a lot more. Lagoons and waterfalls are also found in Atrium which add to the attractions of the garden.

Never miss to see Atrium in Mirage if you visit Las Vegas. This is especially true if you love plants and flowers just like me!! have a great evening guys!! take care too!!
